One cool kid.

Dad came home one day to find Mia's pants hiked up over her belly button and tucked into her socks at the same time (I was just trying to keep her warm in February, OK). Since then Mom's had an ultimatum to insure she look "cool." So here she is, ready to hang with the big kids...she seems to know it, too. But hey, at least Dad won't call her "Urkel" anymore.

Hey good lookin'

Mia was enjoying her wiggle worm gym this morning when she discovered the mirror toy on it for the first time. She wiggled over (we set her down perpendicular to her position below) directly beneath it.
Hey there beautiful...

Life is better sans pants.

Whoa!? I just can't get enough of that mobile! Unfortunately it wasn't enough to calm me down tonight. Until....Aunt Lizzie took my pants off to check my diaper. That cool breeze was all I needed. What will Dad say when he finds out how happy I am when my clothes come off?

Guard Dog

Lina dog is still standing by. She seems to think that we torture Mia with tummy time every afternoon. As soon as the little one starts to scream, Lina comes running in to her rescue. She lays down at Mia's side and starts to whimper until the dreaded ten minutes is up.

Music Appreciation

Mia had a good period of "awake/alert" time yesterday. After enjoying a few good books, we sat down to enjoy some classical music. Here she is conducting an orchestra from the nursery.

Spring has sprung.

We hope it has anyways! We're back to school now after the break and since Dad is coaching lacrosse we're the official dog walkers once again. We bundled up and went for a stroll with the girls around campus.

Little Big Girl

Mia may still be dwarfed by the glider in her nursery, but we've been re-assured that she is growing. (Mom was still in denial even after having changed her wardrobe over.) At her 2-month doctor's appointment today she was 21 inches long and weighed 9 lbs. 5 oz. She made it through her first round of immunizations (Daddy couldn't watch) and spent most of the day sleeping after that.

Hoppy Easter!

Yes, the titles of these posts are getting pretty cheesy, but we just couldn't resist sharing our little bunny with you. Wow---those cheeks just keep getting chubbier!

Chow time!

Grandpa Persons came to visit and shared a bottle with little Mia. She's trying to take charge of the situation, but still needs a helping hand.

Put on my pink suede shoes and I...

Well sort of...they aren't exactly suede...and no, a song hasn't been written about them. But--Mia is excited to be sporting her very first pair of shoes (slippers don't count).

Leave the gun...

Take the cannoli. Nothing like a good Godfather reference. Mia show's her support for Dad's all time favorite movie. (Dad has discovered the wonders of an online print shop. More witty onesies to follow...)

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Mia was sure to wear her green today, afraid the little leprechauns might try to carry her away. (Only the vegetable outfit--that says unBEETable--could rise to the occasion from the pink mass that is her wardrobe.) She was so convinced that leprechauns were out today that she started waving at them from her car seat.

First groomsman arrives

All bets were on Johnny Longo to be the first of the boys to meet Mia. Here is Dad's proud Taft roomie with the little Babe. Mia spent most of the time checking out his flowing locks.

Tummy Time at Grandma's

We realized we hadn't shown the real side of tummy time when Grammy Lu was shocked to see us torture the little one with an entire 10 mins. No--it's not all that fun--as Mia demonstrates above.

To Grandma's house we go!

What a busy spring break! Now we're down in Greenwich visiting Grammy Lu and Grandpa Dom!

Comparative hairline exercise.

Brad may be losing it, but someone else is taking it on. You can't tell from these shots, but Mia is growing an especially nice mullet right now. Business up front, party in the back, baby. PS-we do realize this pink striped number is getting a lot of press lately, and we promise Mia is not wearing it every day.

Kiss and Giggle

Here's another gratuitous Mia giggle for the grandparents.

Snowshoe adventure

Mom, Dad, and the dogs enjoyed snowshoeing yesterday. Mia enjoyed the view of the back of her eyelids, while she snoozed the entire time. Here is mom all bundled up in Dad's coat. Mia is tucked inside in the Baby Bjorn carrier.

Sports Center is...OK.

In another effort to captivate Mia with the wonders of athletics Brad held her during Sports Center. Buca kept her usual distance from the action, eyeing the little creature from afar.

Mirror Image

Whoa! Who's that? There was no official changing table at the cabin, but the dresser worked just fine--in fact, maybe even better. Mia figured out that she could entertain herself with the mirror. (At the next change she realized she could look at mom through the mirror, too!)

Feet are cool.

While mom was taking a shower at the cabin, Mia relaxed in in the warmth of the bathroom. Sans socks, she noticed her feet for the first time and took particular interest in them. She concluded that she has the coolest feet in the entire world.

Sports Fan

Dad has some big athletic aspirations for little Mia. In an effort to get her interested in sports right away, he qued up some videos of Mia Hamm playing soccer on You Tube. Here they are screening them together. This afternoon we'll be packing up for Mia's first road trip. We hope to keep the blog updated, but we promise to return with a multitude of photos if we can't!

On the Move

Well...in her own way. Mia loves to feel movement. A ride in the car or stroller, a walk in the Baby Bjorn or Peanut Shell sling, or simply a rock in Mom or Dad's arms will do. Some time in the swing is fun, too!

Snooze...

Phew! What a day. Mia went shopping with Mom, helped Dad in Admissions, and flipped on to her back during tummy time--all by herself!! Here's to a well-deserved nap. (Let's just hope she saves some sleep for tonight...)

Tummy Time 2 (assisted)

Tummy Time was a much happier event this afternoon. Mia seemed to enjoy it from the start and then Dad came home to lend a little support. With his hand to push off from, Mia was able to turn on to her side. No luck getting all the way over yet, though-- that big diaper got in the way.

Tummy Trouble

Tummy Time: Mandatory time spent on the floor on the tummy working to stregthen neck, chest, back, and arms. The practice amounts to a whole lot of work, very little movement, and a great deal of frustration.

Mobile-A-Go-Go

Mia's finally started to enjoy some of the fancy things adorning her room. Here she is enthralled by her farm animals mobile (thanks Grammie Lu!). Mia engaged in a stare-down with the donkey, cow, and um...we're not really sure what the other thing is...for about 15 minutes this afternoon. These are very progressive farm animals, by the way...Some might say they look like they've recently taken an illegal substance, but we just tell Mia they're dizzy from spinning around so much. PS--brownie points to anyone who can identify the creature in orange with the purple scarf.

Gone to the dogs...

Mom couldn't resist dressing me up in all my puppy paraphernalia yesterday. I had Lauren's now famous "ears" hat on, my poochie pajamas, and yes--those are slippers in Buca's likeness!

All Smiles

We've been talking a lot about all the smiles we've been seeing, but haven't really given you much to look at. Here are a couple of goofy grins. All you have to do is give Mia a kiss, and she'll reward you with one of these:
